How to rid of cigarette smell in a car?

Just bought a car, and the previous owner was a smoker. I've cleaned the car mats, used an odor bomb, scrubbed everything down, but the smoke smell still lingers (not nearly as bad as before). Just wondering if there's anything else that I can do to get the smell out.

You can get an Ozone treatment, if the machine has a high enough output it will work wonders. As a reminder, Ozone is toxic in high concentrations so you'd be best to let the car air out for a few hours after the treatment before driving.

Yep. This. In high school I worked at a rental car place. This is what we would use if a customer smoked in a car to eliminate the smell. In the interim until you can get your hands on an ozone machine, you could stuff a dryer sheet near the vent under front seats.

Straight up the only way would probably be to use carpet shampoo on everything with one of those carpet cleaner vacuums. The water will come out yellow (depending on how much smoking was done)

Cups of Coffee beans inside the car for a couple hours will get rid of it and make it smell like coffee haha

Either that or the Meguiars odor eliminating spray that you leave inside with the AC blasting for 20 min.

Like coffee you can use cedar chips (or even better powdered cedar that you get from sanding). Leave it there a few hours and vacuum up later.

I did a pretty good job by sprinkling the carpet with baking soda, letting it sit a full day, then vacuuming.

In one of our cars I especially noticed the stale tobacco odor coming from the AC vents. I pried off the vent trim and was able to reach inside with swabs, then spray with Lysol. Not perfect but big improvement. I think that the dealer did his thing on the seats and carpets before we bought.

I shampooed my carpet and upholstery and spray the headliner with Febreeze. Spray into the air vent while you've got the fan on high as well
